The HaloLock is a compact black square puck with a magnetic charging face and a threaded socket on the back that takes either the vent clip or the dashboard anchor. The vent clip has a metal reinforcement plate that grips the fin firmly, and a small arm folds down under the puck to stop it nodding. It is plain-looking and the matte black finish picks up dust.
Screw on whichever mount suits your car, clip or stick it in place, run the USB-C cable to a car charger, and you are done. In use it is as simple as a magnetic mount gets: the phone snaps to the centre, the LEDs confirm charging, and it pulls off with one hand.
The magnet holds a phone securely through potholes and hard cornering, which is the main job. Wireless output is the usual MagSafe tiers — up to 15W for a compatible phone. The limitation is heat: with only passive cooling the phone warms up on a long charge and, on a hot day, will slow its own charging to protect the battery. The HaloLock is the pick if you want charging built into a magnetic mount and can live with passive cooling. If you do not need charging, a cheaper magnetic cradle or a universal suction mount will do. If summer heat and long drives are your reality, look at a fan-cooled magnetic charger instead.
