Most of the stand is anodised aluminium: a round weighted base, a two-piece height-adjustable neck, and a magnetic head with a soft silicone face. It looks and feels well above its price. The one part that is not aluminium is the plastic at the base joint, and that is exactly where owner reports of cracking after several months land — a real weak spot in an otherwise solid design.
Snap a MagSafe iPhone (or a case with a magnet ring) onto the head. Adjust the height, rotate the base, swivel the head to the angle you want. For a non-magnetic phone you apply an adhesive ring first. That is the whole setup.
For a desk stand, performance is stability, hold strength, adjustability and payload. Stability is excellent thanks to the weighted base — it does not tip when you poke the screen. Hold strength is strong at roughly 1600 g. Adjustability covers every useful angle. Payload is a phone; it is not built for a tablet.
