A flat magnetic head with ten sets of N52 magnets, on a short telescopic arm and a sticky-gel suction base. The mount itself feels sturdy, and the suction base grips smooth surfaces well and is reusable. The magnetic head is the part that divides owners: iOttie does not publish a pull-force figure, and real-world hold reports range from ‘rock solid’ to ‘not strong enough’, likely depending on phone weight and whether a case sits between phone and magnet.
Press the suction base to a smooth spot on the dash or windshield, extend the arm, set the ball-joint angle. Snap on a MagSafe phone, or apply the included ring to a non-MagSafe phone first — and get the placement right the first time, because the adhesive ring does not move once stuck.
