It’s a sheet of dark-tinted tempered glass cut for the Pixel 11 Pro XL’s flat display. Looking at it head-on, you’d mistake it for a normal screen that’s been turned down a notch or two. From the side? Close to black.
Otherwise it’s standard 9H glass with the usual cutouts, and there’s no noticeable ridge around the edge.
You fit it the way you’d fit any glass protector: clean the screen, lift off the dust, line it up with the tray and press it down. The flat screen helps a lot. Once it’s on, re-register your fingerprint so the ultrasonic sensor can read through the tinted glass.
It works. Someone in the next seat on a plane simply can’t read what’s on your screen, and you don’t have to do anything to switch it on.
What it costs you is the same with every privacy filter: the screen is less bright straight on, you use more battery turning it up to compensate, and you’ll struggle a bit in direct sunlight, which matters more on a phone you use outdoors than on one that mostly lives on a desk. There’s some leakage at the edges at a shallow angle, so it’s more of a fade than a clean cut-off, and remember that the effect only works in portrait. As a plain scratch protector, it performs like any other 9H sheet.
