You get a set of tempered-glass discs, each with its own rim, one for every rear lens, sitting on an alignment frame. The aluminium edging gives each cover a finished look and a little extra strength at the edge.
It adds almost nothing to the height of the camera module, and because the flash, the laser autofocus and the other sensors stay uncovered, they keep working exactly as they did before you fitted it.
Clean each lens with the wipe that comes in the box, drop the alignment frame over the cameras, press each cover down and lift the frame away. Two minutes. The frame takes out almost all the guesswork. There’s a removal tool in the box too, for when you want to take a cover off.
Daylight photos? No difference. The anti-reflective coating and high light transmission do their job.
The one known trade-off with any lens glass only shows up in particular conditions, when a bright point of light at night can pick up a faint extra flare or ghost.
