Anker Nano 65W Review: A Laptop Charger That Fits Like a Phone Cube

4.3 · Would Buy
TINY TECH BOX SCORE

65W is the magic number. It’s enough for one charger to handle both a phone and a real laptop, and Anker’s Nano 65W squeezes it into a body barely bigger than a 20W cube, with a plug that folds away.

If you travel with a laptop, it’s trying to be the only wall charger you pack. It mostly succeeds.

One-sentence verdict: Buy it if you want one tiny charger that fast-charges a phone and runs a laptop; the trade-offs are a single port and no cable in the box.

Pros and cons

Pros
  • ✓65W in a body close to the size of a 20W cube. It really can replace the laptop charger for a MacBook Air, a 13-inch MacBook Pro, an XPS 13 and similar.
  • ✓The folding plug and small size make it the easiest laptop-class charger to pack.
  • ✓PPS covers Samsung Super Fast Charging 2.0, and standard PD covers Apple and Pixel.
  • ✓A long, strong track record of 4.7 stars from 7,500 ratings, and ActiveShield 2.0 keeps it cooler than earlier Nano models.
Cons
  • ✗One port, so it’s the phone or the laptop, not both.
  • ✗No cable in the box, and some devices need a 5A cable for the fastest speeds.
  • ✗It gets warm, around 45–50°C under a sustained full laptop load, though not uncomfortably hot.
  • ✗At $29.99, it costs more than a 45W brick that you might never outgrow.

The review

Design and build quality

It’s a small matte-black cube with one USB-C port and a folding two-prong plug.

The size claim? True. Thanks to GaN II, it’s close to a 20W charger in your hand despite putting out more than three times the power. The fire-resistant housing feels substantial, and the plug folds away with a firm click.

Setup and ease of use

Unfold the plug and connect your own USB-C cable, and it works out the right profile by itself, PPS for a Samsung phone or standard PD for a laptop or an iPhone.

The missing cable is the only friction. For a laptop, use a cable rated for 100W to be safe, even though the charger itself tops out at 65W.

Performance

This is where the Nano earns its place, because a real 65W means it’ll fast-charge any current phone in the morning and then run a MacBook Air or a 13-inch MacBook Pro at close to full speed in the afternoon, all from one small cube in your bag.

Heat is handled. ActiveShield 2.0 keeps it in a reasonable range, so it’s warm to the touch under a long laptop load but never hot. As a phone charger it’s overkill, in the best way, because nothing you plug into it will ever be short of power.

Durability and warranty

Long-lived line. The Nano II is one of Anker’s most established, and 7,500 ratings at 4.7 stars is a strong sign that it lasts. The newer ActiveShield 2.0 heat management should help it last longer than the first Nano generation, too. There’s a limited warranty, though the listing doesn’t print the term.

Price and value

At $29.99, the Nano 65W is priced like a premium single-port charger. The two-port UGREEN Nexode 45W costs $23.99, and a two-pack of Anker’s 45W bricks is $29.99.

What the money buys is headroom. If you carry a laptop, 65W from a cube this small means one charger instead of two, and that’s worth paying more than you would for a 45W brick. If you only ever charge phones and tablets, 45W is plenty, and it’s cheaper.

Who should buy it?

Buy it if
  • ✓You carry a laptop and want one charger for it and your phone.
  • ✓You want the smallest laptop-class charger you can get for a bag.
  • ✓You want a charger you won’t outgrow when you upgrade your devices.
Skip it if
  • ✗You only charge phones and tablets. 45W is enough, and cheaper.
  • ✗You need two ports.
  • ✗You want a cable in the box.

Final verdict

Leave the laptop brick at home. It fits like a phone cube, folds flat and delivers a real 65W with PPS, and 7,500 ratings at 4.7 stars say it holds up. If you travel with a laptop, it’s the single best charger to pack.

The compromises are the obvious ones. With a single port you choose between the phone and the laptop, there’s no cable in the box, and it runs warm under a long laptop load. If you never charge a laptop, a cheaper 45W two-port charger is better value. If you do, this is the one.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. A real 65W output runs a MacBook Air, a 13-inch MacBook Pro, a Dell XPS 13 and similar USB-C laptops at close to full speed. It isn’t enough for a bigger 16-inch laptop that expects 96W or more.

No, it’s a single-port charger, so you charge the phone or the laptop, not both at once, and if you need both at the same time you’ll want a two-port model instead.

No, you’ll need your own USB-C cable. For a laptop, use one rated for 100W to be safe.

Yes, through PPS for Super Fast Charging 2.0. It also does standard USB-C Power Delivery for Apple and Pixel devices.

It gets warm, around 45–50°C under a sustained full laptop load, but not uncomfortably hot, and ActiveShield 2.0 keeps it cooler than the first Nano generation.
