Anker Nano 45W Smart Display Charger Review: Tiny, Fast, and Built Around the iPhone

4.0 · Would Buy
TINY TECH BOX SCORE

Anker took a single-port 45W GaN charger, squeezed it down to roughly the size of Apple’s old 20W cube, and put a little screen on top.

That screen shows wattage, temperature and charging mode. On recent iPhones and iPad Pro, it also names the device and reads out its battery level. Underneath, it’s a commodity product with a premium twist, so the only real question is whether you’ll ever look at the screen often enough to justify paying for it.

One-sentence verdict: A tiny, quick single-port charger that iPhone 15–17 owners will enjoy; the smart features stop at Apple, and Galaxy phones that need 5A PPS won’t reach their top speed.

Pros and cons

Pros
  • ✓Very small for 45W: about 34 × 35.5 × 40 mm and 75 g, per Anker.
  • ✓The prongs fold at both 90° and 180°, so it fits behind furniture and in crowded power strips.
  • ✓The screen shows live wattage, temperature and mode, and on supported iPhones and iPad Pro it names the device and shows battery percentage.
  • ✓More than enough power for any current iPhone, with headroom for an iPad Pro.
  • ✓Care Mode keeps overnight charging cooler, and Anker says it’s TÜV-certified.
Cons
  • ✗One USB-C port, and no cable in the box.
  • ✗Device recognition and the smart modes only cover iPhone 15, 16 and 17 (not 17e) plus specific iPad Pro models.
  • ✗PPS is listed at 3A, so Galaxy phones that need 5A PPS can’t use 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0.
  • ✗You pay for the screen. A plain 45W brick costs less.

The review

Design and build quality

Tiny. Anker lists it at 34 × 35.5 × 40 mm and 75 g, close to Apple’s old 20W cube.

The prongs fold flat, and they also lock at 90°. Sounds like a gimmick. Then you plug it in behind a bed, or squeeze it onto a power strip next to a fat adapter that would normally block the neighbouring socket, and it stops sounding like one. Colours are black, white, blue and orange.

The screen is small but bright enough to read at a glance. It sleeps after a while and wakes when you tap the touch area on the side, but the display itself isn’t a touchscreen, so don’t go poking at the numbers expecting them to do anything when you want to change modes.

Setup and ease of use

There’s nothing to install or pair: plug it in, add your own USB-C cable, and it starts charging straight away.

The controls take a minute to learn. One tap shows charging status, a double-tap switches between Auto and Care modes, and a two-second press flips the display 180°. It won’t turn 90°, though, so in a sideways outlet you’ll be reading the numbers sideways.

Performance

Peak output is 45W (20V⎓2.25A), and an iPhone won’t pull anywhere near that. Cult of Mac measured about 31W into an iPhone and 43W into a 13-inch iPad Pro. Anker rates the iPhone 17 Pro at 50% in about 20 minutes, and AppleInsider’s test came in just under. So who’s the headroom for? iPad Pro and small laptops, mostly, and a MacBook Air will charge from it too, just not quickly.

Care Mode lowers the charging temperature for long overnight sessions, and Anker claims the phone runs up to 9°F cooler than on a standard 45W charger. That’s the company’s own figure. Still, it’s a sensible idea for a brick that lives by the bed.

Samsung owners get the short end here, because the listed 3A PPS covers 25W Super Fast Charging but not the 45W mode, which needs 5A.

Durability and warranty

Anker gives it an 18-month warranty. It launched in January 2026, so it’s had nine months in owners’ hands, and the Amazon rating has stayed at 4.7 across more than 5,000 ratings without any sign of a heat or failure pattern. The power-bank recalls on Anker’s recall page don’t include chargers.

Price and value

At $25.99, it costs about what Anker charges for a two-pack of its plain 45W bricks, and it charges no faster. You’re paying for the size, the clever prongs and the screen. Will you actually glance at the readout, or use Care Mode overnight? Then it’s a fair premium. No? Buy the plain brick.

iPhone owner who likes the screen? This is the one. If you just want fast charging, Anker’s 45W two-pack gets you two bricks for about the same money. Galaxy owners should buy the Samsung 45W, because it’s the only one here that unlocks 45W Super Fast Charging, and for a laptop, step up to the Anker Nano 65W.

Who should buy it?

Buy it if
  • ✓You use an iPhone 15, 16 or 17, or a recent iPad Pro.
  • ✓You want the smallest 45W brick you can find for travel.
  • ✓You like seeing wattage and battery level at a glance, or want Care Mode overnight.
Skip it if
  • ✗You use a Galaxy that supports 45W Super Fast Charging.
  • ✗You need to charge two devices from one brick.
  • ✗You don’t care about the screen. A plain 45W charger costs less.

Final verdict: is the Anker Nano 45W Smart Display Charger worth it?

For an iPhone owner, it’s a lovely little charger. Small enough to forget about, quick enough that your iPhone’s own charging limit becomes the bottleneck, and the folding prongs fix an annoyance you’ve probably had for years. The screen is a nice extra, not a necessity, though recognition and Care Mode make it more than decoration on the phones it supports.

Scope is the reservation. The smart features are built for iPhone 15–17 and specific iPad Pro models, and the 3A PPS limit keeps Galaxy phones out of their fastest mode. Outside Apple’s world, or if you’d never look at the screen, a cheaper plain brick does the same job.
