ESR Armorite Review (Apple Watch Ultra): Glass With a Metal Frame Around the Bezel

3.8 · Would Buy
TINY TECH BOX SCORE

ESR’s Armorite is a tempered-glass protector for the 49mm Ultra with an aluminium-alloy frame bonded around the edge, so it covers the raised titanium lip as well as the display. In black it disappears on a black Ultra. It is a step up from flat glass if the edge of your watch is what keeps getting hit.

One-sentence verdict: A good way to cover both the Ultra’s screen and its raised edge for very little money — as long as you accept that some protectors lift and need replacing.

Pros and cons

Pros
  • ✓It protects the bezel, not just the glass. The aluminium frame covers the raised lip, which is where the Ultra takes its hits.
  • ✓On a black Ultra the black frame looks factory.
  • ✓Installation is straightforward and the adhesive is designed to push bubbles out.
  • ✓Two in the pack at a low price.
Cons
  • ✗Adhesion is uneven. Some protectors lift or come off, and a lifted frame is more noticeable than lifted flat glass.
  • ✗On a natural or white titanium Ultra, a black frame changes the look.
  • ✗Durability and value feedback are mixed alongside the good reviews.
  • ✗The sapphire front already resists scratches, so the glass itself matters less than the frame.

The review

Design and build quality

Armorite is a sheet of tempered glass set into a thin aluminium-alloy frame that wraps over the Ultra’s raised edge. It changes the protector from a screen cover into a bezel cover, and in black on a black Ultra it reads as part of the watch. ESR claims the glass takes 110 lb of pressure; that is its own figure.

Setup and ease of use

ESR uses an epoxy-resin adhesive that is meant to spread out and push bubbles to the edge, and installation is the part owners like most. Clean the screen, line up the frame, press. Line-up is easier than with flat glass because the frame locates on the edge of the watch.

Performance

With the frame in place, knocks on the lip hit aluminium instead of titanium and sapphire, which is the real advantage over flat glass. Touch response and clarity are good for most owners, with a fingerprint-resistant coating on top. The weak spot is staying on: a share of owners find it lifting or falling off.

Durability and warranty

When it stays stuck, it protects well and takes the scuffs itself. The recurring complaints are adhesion and longevity, and the second protector is your fallback. No warranty is listed, and the listing is sold by Minghutech-US.

Price and value

At $13.99 on Amazon (checked Oct 11, 2026) for two, it costs about the same as flat-glass Ultra protectors.

For that money you get bezel protection too, which makes it the better buy for most Ultra owners who want anything at all — if the adhesive holds.

Who should buy it?

Buy it if
  • ✓You have a black Ultra and keep scuffing the raised edge.
  • ✓You want more than flat glass without adding a case.
  • ✓You want a spare in the box.
Skip it if
  • ✗Your Ultra is natural or white titanium and you want it to look stock.
  • ✗You cannot stand the idea of a protector lifting.
  • ✗You already use a bumper that covers the bezel.

Final verdict: is the ESR Armorite Screen Protector worth it?

The ESR Armorite is the smarter Ultra protector for most people, because it covers the part of the watch that actually takes knocks. The metal frame guards the raised edge, the glass covers the display, and in black it looks like it belongs.

The reservation is adhesion. Some protectors lift or come off, and on a lighter titanium Ultra the black frame is a visible change. It is good value if you accept using the spare.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. ESR lists the Ultra 4 (2026) along with the Ultra 3, Ultra 2 and original Ultra.

On a black titanium Ultra, yes. On natural or white titanium it is a visible black ring around the display.

It protects more, because the frame covers the raised edge. Flat glass like the Spigen GlasTR is less visible.

Only with a case that leaves the bezel open. ESR sells its aluminium Ultra case with Armorite protectors in one set.
