Apple Sport Loop Review (46mm, Forest): The Comfortable Band You Forget You’re Wearing

4.2 · Would Buy
TINY TECH BOX SCORE

The Sport Loop is Apple’s soft woven nylon band with a hook-and-loop strap instead of a buckle. It is the band a lot of Apple Watch owners end up wearing to bed, to the gym and everywhere in between, because it is light, it breathes and it adjusts to the millimetre. This one is the 46mm Forest green from Apple’s 2025 range.

Update, October 6, 2026: the Forest colour in 46mm is no longer sold on Amazon, so the Amazon links on this page now open a different colour and size. Everything in this review applies to any 46mm Sport Loop, and the Neon Yellow 46mm is in stock on Amazon.

One-sentence verdict: The most comfortable everyday Apple Watch band there is, and it fits every large watch including the Ultra — but it costs three or four times a decent copy.

Pros and cons

Pros
  • ✓It is very comfortable. Light, soft on the skin, and breathable enough to wear through sleep and workouts.
  • ✓The hook-and-loop strap sets to any length, so the fit is snug for heart-rate readings without being tight.
  • ✓One size covers wrists from 145 to 220mm and fits every 44, 45, 46 and 49mm watch, Ultra included.
  • ✓Apple’s connectors click in firmly with none of the wobble some cheap bands have.
Cons
  • ✗It is expensive. Copies look close for a fraction of the price.
  • ✗The nylon fuzzes and fades with time and washing, and the loop tab eventually loses some grip.
  • ✗It soaks up water and sweat and takes a while to dry.
  • ✗The casual, sporty look does not dress up.

The review

Design and build quality

It is a double-layer nylon weave with dense loops on the skin side for cushioning and a hook-and-loop tab to fasten it. Apple says the weave uses 82% recycled yarn. Forest is a muted dark green that suits the black and silver watches. It reads as casual and sporty, and it is light enough that you stop noticing it.

Setup and ease of use

Slide it into the watch until it clicks, thread the tab through the loop and press it closed. Because the tab grips anywhere along the strap, you can loosen it slightly for sleep and tighten it for a run in a second. One size fits wrists from 145 to 220mm, so there is no S/M or M/L to get wrong.

Performance

Comfort is the job and this is where the Sport Loop is best in class. It breathes during workouts, it is soft enough to sleep in, and the infinite adjustment keeps the sensors against your wrist, which helps heart-rate and sleep data. It is secure: the hook-and-loop does not pop open in normal use.

Durability and warranty

Nylon wears visibly. Expect some fuzzing, fading and a softer grip on the tab after a year or two of daily use, faster if you wash it often. Some bands last much longer. It is covered by Apple’s one-year warranty.

Price and value

At $48.63 on Amazon (checked Oct 4, 2026), it is full Apple price.

The comfort and the connector fit are genuinely better than most copies, and it will outlast a cheap nylon band. But a well-made third-party loop does 80% of the job for a quarter of the money, so it is a buy-once-and-love-it band rather than a value pick.

Who should buy it?

Buy it if
  • ✓You wear your watch to sleep and want a band you do not notice.
  • ✓You work out and want something that breathes.
  • ✓You have a large watch or an Ultra and want a band that fits both.
Skip it if
  • ✗You would rather spend $10–15 on a copy.
  • ✗You swim a lot — wet nylon stays wet.
  • ✗You want a band for formal wear.

Final verdict: is the Apple Sport Loop 46mm worth it?

The Apple Sport Loop is the most comfortable band you can put on an Apple Watch. It breathes, it adjusts to any wrist, it clicks in solidly, and this 46mm size fits every large watch including the Ultra.

The reservation is money. It is full Apple price for a nylon strap that will fuzz and fade over time. If comfort is the point, it is worth it; if you just need a spare band, it is not the value choice.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Apple lists it for 44mm, 45mm, 46mm and 49mm watches, so it fits every Ultra.

The 46mm Series 12 uses the same band size as the Series 11 and 10 46mm, so yes. For the 42mm Series 12, buy the 42mm band.

You can, but the nylon soaks up water and takes a while to dry. A Sport Band is the better choice for the pool.

Apple says 145–220mm. There is only one size.
