GALVANOX MAG-5 Magnetic Power Bank Review: A Small Top-Up for a Magnet-Less Phone

3.3 · Average
TINY TECH BOX SCORE

Samsung didn’t put magnets in the Galaxy S26, so a snap-on power bank won’t stick to one unless you add a magnetic case first. Keep that in mind, because everything about the GALVANOX MAG-5 depends on it.

If you’ve already got that case, this is a small 5,000mAh battery that clicks onto the back of the phone for an evening top-up, at a much lower price than Samsung’s own.

One-sentence verdict: Consider it if you have a Galaxy with a magnetic case and want a cheap 5,000mAh snap-on top-up; just know that 5,000mAh is one partial charge, the rating is mixed, and Samsung’s own version adds a kickstand.

Pros and cons

Pros
  • ✓It gives a Galaxy snap-on magnetic charging, which the phone can’t do on its own, as long as you use a magnetic case.
  • ✓15W Qi2 wireless output is a reasonable speed for magnetic charging.
  • ✓It can charge the phone wirelessly and a second device by cable at the same time, and a cable comes in the box.
  • ✓At $29.99, it costs far less than Samsung’s own 5,000mAh magnetic bank.
Cons
  • ✗5,000mAh is one partial top-up. Enough to get you through the evening, not a full day of backup.
  • ✗On a Galaxy it only works with a magnetic case, which is one more thing to buy and commit to.
  • ✗3.9 stars from only about 300 ratings is a thin, mixed record.
  • ✗Samsung’s pricier version has a kickstand and a cutout for the camera block, and this one has neither.
  • ✗GALVANOX is a small brand without much of a support history.

The review

Design and build quality

It’s a compact black puck, a little bigger than a stack of cards, with a magnetic charging face and a USB-C port on the side. Plain, and light.

There’s no kickstand and no shaped cutout for the Galaxy’s camera bar, both of which Samsung’s version has, so it simply sits flat against the back of the case.

Setup and ease of use

Put a magnetic case on the Galaxy, snap the MAG-5 onto the back and it starts charging. You can plug a second device into the USB-C port and charge both at once, and the same port recharges the bank.

Performance

As a magnetic top-up, it works. Fifteen watts over Qi2 is a fair wireless rate, the magnet holds through normal handling, and being able to charge a second device at the same time is useful.

Capacity is the hard limit. Once you take wireless-charging losses into account, 5,000mAh is one partial charge for a big Android battery, which will get you through an evening out but won’t save you on a long travel day.

As for that 3.9-star average, it comes from a small sample, and it reads like a mix of owners who found it perfectly fine and some who ran into weak magnets or unreliable charging.

Durability and warranty

Not much to go on yet. With a small brand, a short track record and around 300 ratings, there isn’t a durability story to tell. On any bank like this, the magnet and the USB-C port are where wear usually shows up first. GALVANOX mentions a limited warranty, but the listing doesn’t give the term.

Price and value

At $29.99, the MAG-5 sits between a cheap flat power bank and Samsung’s official magnetic one. Belkin’s 5,000mAh Qi2 magnetic bank, which we rate a little higher, costs $59.99 and adds a kickstand.

Its whole pitch is cheap magnetic charging for a Galaxy, and that only makes sense if you were going to use a magnetic case anyway. If you weren’t, the case becomes part of what this bank really costs you. A small flat power bank is cheaper still, and it works with any phone, magnets or not, so if all you want is a bit of extra battery in your bag, that is the more sensible place to start.

Is 5,000mAh enough? Then the MAG-5 does the job. Pay more for the Belkin if you want a kickstand and a stronger rating, or get the TORRAS MiniMag for double the capacity. Whichever you choose, a Galaxy will still need a magnetic case.

Who should buy it?

Buy it if
  • ✓Your Galaxy already has a magnetic case.
  • ✓You want a cheap magnetic bank for a single evening top-up.
  • ✓Charging a second device by cable at the same time is useful to you.
Skip it if
  • ✗You need more than one partial charge.
  • ✗You don’t want to commit to a magnetic case.
  • ✗You’d rather have a kickstand, or a better-known product with stronger support.

Final verdict

Narrow job, fair price. The MAG-5 adds cheap magnetic top-up charging to a Galaxy that has no magnets of its own, provided you put a magnetic case on the phone. The 15W Qi2 speed and the two-at-once charging are useful, and it costs much less than Samsung’s version.

What holds it back is capacity and confidence. Five thousand milliamp-hours is one partial charge, the 3.9-star average is built on a small sample, and Samsung’s dearer bank adds a kickstand and a proper camera-bar cutout. If the MAG-5 fits your setup and budget exactly, buy it. Otherwise, the Belkin or a bigger magnetic bank is a safer way to spend the money.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. The Galaxy S26 series has no built-in magnets, so you need a magnetic (MagSafe-style) case for the MAG-5 to attach and line up for wireless charging.

After wireless-charging losses, roughly one partial charge. That’s enough to get a big-battery phone through an evening, not a full day.

Yes. It charges the phone wirelessly and a second device through its USB-C port at the same time, and a cable is included.

Samsung’s version costs a lot more but adds a built-in kickstand and a cutout that clears the Galaxy’s camera bar. The MAG-5 is the budget option without those extras.

Yes. MagSafe iPhones have magnets built in, so it attaches and charges without a special case.
