Anker 60W USB-C Cable (2-Pack, 6 ft)
Home/Universal/Cables & Adapters/Baseus 100W Retractable USB-C Cable
The Baseus 100W Retractable USB-C Cable has a genuinely useful idea: a cable that collapses to a puck and locks to seven set lengths — a real space-saver in a travel kit. When new, it carries the full 100W. The recurring problem is that the reel or the cable tends to fail within months.

One-sentence verdict: Worth it if you want one cable that packs to a puck and locks to a few set lengths and will accept a shorter service life for that — skip it if you want a cable that lasts for years or don’t need the retractable gimmick.

It retracts to seven set lengths — the reel is also the weak point.

A round housing in the middle with a spring reel, and a USB-C connector at each end. Retracted, it is a neat puck. Extended, the housing is a noticeable lump. The reel is the point of the product and also its liability — it is the part owners most often report jamming or failing, and the cable itself is reported to break at the housing.
Pull the cable to a length, and it locks at one of seven preset stops. Give it a tug to release and let it retract.
For a charging cable, performance is power delivery, data speed, connector fit, flex and — here — the mechanism. Power delivery at 100W is fine for a phone or a light laptop. Data is USB 2.0. Connector fit is acceptable. The mechanism works well when new; the question is how long it keeps working.

This is where it loses points. A meaningful share of owners report the reel jamming or the cable failing at the housing within months. Baseus offers a limited warranty through its support channel, but the failure rate is the main story.
At $17.09 on Amazon (checked August 26, 2026), it costs more than a plain 100W cable because of the reel.
If the retractable mechanism specifically solves a problem for you — a cluttered travel kit, a cable that always tangles — it can be worth the premium, with the caveat that it may not last as long as a plain cable. If you do not need the reel, a plain braided cable is cheaper and tougher. We would call it a fair buy under about $13.

| Baseus 100W Retractable USB-C Cable (this cable) | A travel cable that packs to a puck | Retractable, 7 lock lengths, 100W | Reel and cable fail for many owners within months | $17.09 |
| Anker 60W USB-C Cable (2-Pack, 6 ft) | Durable everyday cables in bulk | Braided, lifetime warranty, ~$10 | Not retractable; 60W | $9.99 |

Unless the retractable format specifically solves a problem for you, a plain braided cable like the Anker 2-pack is cheaper and far more durable. Prices are Amazon figures from August 26, 2026.
The Baseus 100W Retractable USB-C Cable has a genuinely useful idea: a cable that collapses to a puck and locks to seven set lengths, which is a real space-saver in a travel kit. When new, it works well and carries the full 100W.
The follow-through is where it stumbles. A meaningful share of owners report the reel jamming or the cable breaking at the housing within months, and build quality is inconsistent unit to unit. Its 3.4 score reflects a clever format let down by durability. Buy it if the retractable mechanism solves a specific problem for you; otherwise a plain braided cable is cheaper and tougher.

A spring reel in a central housing. Pull to a length and it locks at one of seven preset stops; tug to release and it retracts.
That is the concern. A meaningful share of owners report the reel jamming or the cable failing at the housing within months.
A light laptop, yes — it carries the full 100W. Not a full-power MacBook Pro, which needs 140W–240W.
No. USB 2.0 rates.
Baseus offers a limited warranty through its support channel; the failure rate is the bigger issue.
A plain braided cable if you do not specifically need the retractable format — it is cheaper and lasts longer.
